You can remove your old flooring and lay your new flooring down. Build up the floor immediately under the bowl. The flange should sit on top of the finished floor if it doesn t you ll have to modify the plumbing or find another way to achieve this. It not only can be used to raise toilets but it will take care of any unevenness in the floor or the toilet itself even if the flange isn t too high.

This particular toilet flange was 5 8 above the floor level. To do this you ll want to first measure how much higher the toilet flange is currently sitting above your bathroom floor. When the tiles are set and the tile adhesive has dried you can screw the flange on the floor and proceed with the toilet bowl installation. When you are replacing a wax ring check the toilet flange height in relation to your flooring.

As you remove the toilet you see that the closet flange is higher than the floor even after you install your new tiles. If the flange is higher you have two options. Now this can be a problem because it can lead to leaks or cause your toilet to be unstable and wobbly. Lower the flange to the prescribed height.

If the toilet rocks due to an uneven floor it can break the wax seal and damage the flange. This might help you if you are trying to set a toilet with a high flange.
